Swedish minimalist dark, ambient emo-rock band Logh’s third studio album serves as its debut in Canada, and perhaps the time is ripe, as this band’s dreamy soundscapes have found a solid following across Europe.
Given Iceland’s Sigor Ros has done well in these parts, it stands to reason Logh’s haunting and beautiful atmospherics on A Sunset Panorama (which includes a DVD version of the album plus tour footage) might too find its way into your CD collection.
Swaying between subtle touches and full on cacophony, songs such as ‘Fell Into The Well’ and ‘The Big Sleep’ leave a mark, as Logh don’t just lull you into la-la land. There are moments with serious bite.
Though it is a thing of beauty, what A Sunset Panorama lacks is a new direction to take the listener in. Nevertheless, there’s plenty here to whet one’s appetite for more.
