Ask anyone who has ever resided in Calgary, and chances are they’ll tell you the university’s campus radio station – CJSW 90.9FM – is the show in town for indie rock and all things outside the predictable mainstream.
This 25-song, double compilation CD is testament to that fact, documenting the finer moments of that city’s homegrown talent of the last two decades.
Standout tracks include Big Bang Theory’s ‘Love Letters’, ‘Rocket To Nowhere’ by Huevos Rancheros, ‘Revenge Of The Blazer Boys’ by Red Autumn Fall, and ‘Down With Safe’ by Hot Little Rocket.
But with 25 unique artists and bands to hear, it’s too tough to pick a favourite beyond acknowledging this is a fab Canuck indie collection.
